THE VERMONT WEATHER BOOK by David Ludlum (Vermont Historical Society, 1996) lists the following Historic Weather Events for November 4:

November 4, 1927
Vermont Flood at height. Total rainfall: 9.65" at Somerset, 9.14" at Molly’s Falls, 8.66" at Northfield, 8.60" at Chittenden, 8.47" at Rutland; greatest damage in Winooski and White River valleys; most bridges carried away; much railroad track destroyed; highways washed out; fields covered with gravel; eighty-four dead; damage estimated at $28 million.
