October 1869 Flood, greatest of the nineteenth century: Ottauquechee River was 2' higher than September 1828; heavy rains on 3rd turned into deluges as tropical moisture arrived with Saxby’s Storm offshore; 6.57" Castleton, 6.35" Woodstock.
