Great New England Hurricane cut diagonally across state from southeast near Brattleboro to northwest near Burlington; heavy rains on 18-19th plus hurricane deluges on 20-21st; totals, Somerset 8.20", Brattleboro 7.76", Woodstock 5.74"; high winds, Burlington 47 mi/h south; damaging floods; vast forest blowdown.
