September 14, 1882
Tornado at Strafford; path 4 miles long, 0.25-mile wide; buildings unroofed, trees uprooted.

September 14, 1979
Cold front associated with remnant of Hurricane Frederic caused severe thunderstorms; 80 percent power outage in central section; wind damage in Addison and Orange counties; bridge over Connecticut River at South Newbury a principal victim; many trees downed in Chittenden and Franklin counties; 72 mi/h gust at St. Albans.
