“Tremendous Whirlwind” struck Peacham and Barnet; destroyed barns and orchards; unroofed houses; path 10-35 rods wide.

August 9, 1976
Heavy rains from passage of ex-hurricane Belle on 9-10th; Readsboro 4.11", Mt. Mansfield 4", Dorset 2.83"; local flooding, soil erosion, and landslides near Manchester.
