THE VERMONT WEATHER BOOK by David Ludlum (Vermont Historical Society, 1996) lists the following Historic Weather Events for June 5:

June 5, 1855
Destructive fires widespread; fanned by strong southwest winds, swept from farm to farm in Woodbury, burning eight dwelling houses, consuming crops, fences, forests; damage also in Waitsfield, Windsor, Worcester, Kirby, Fayston, and Berlin.

June 5, 1859
Famous June frost over state; 36° at Brandon with white frost; St. Johnsbury 38°, Burlington 40°, all at 7:00 A.M., not actual minimums.
