Dirty snow fell having a black appearance; attributed to Great Plains dust storm carried east at high altitude.

April 7, 1972
Late-season cold: -2° at Enosburg Falls, 0° at Newport and Northfield. Burlington’s 2° was April and late-season record; snow still 39" deep at Peru.
