THE VERMONT WEATHER BOOK by David Ludlum (Vermont Historical Society, 1996) lists the following Historic Weather Events for March 26:

March 26, 1847
Greatest snowstorm of mid-century: “30 inches by actual measurement” at Barnard; 17" at Burlington in “driving storm”; roads badly drifted, blocked for two days; barometer at 28.73" on 27th; 22" snow at Lunenburg, which remained throughout April.

NOTE: Ludlum's 17" at Burlington derives from historical records that go back further than the official National Weather Service snow records, which began in 1906.
