March Blizzard of '88, Vermonts greatest snowstorm: began about noon on the 11th, and continued for about 48 hours. In northeast, 18" at Newport; in the northwest, 23" at Burlington; in the southeast, 38" at Vernon; in the southwest, 48" at Bennington; gales from north and northeast on 12th and early 13th; lowest temperature, 4°, in southwest at Manchester; warmest in northeast at Newport, 19° on 12-13th.
