THE VERMONT WEATHER BOOK by David Ludlum (Vermont Historical Society, 1996) lists the following Historic Weather Events for March 11:

March 11, 1936
First rains leading to the Great March Flood of 1936 fell on snow cover with a water content up to 16". At Cavendish, 3.25" rain fell in 24 hours; at Brattleboro, 2.15"; at Woodstock, 2.03".
