THE VERMONT WEATHER BOOK by David Ludlum (Vermont Historical Society, 1996) lists the following Historic Weather Events for January 12:

January 12, 1918
The only warm day in the month throughout the entire state during the severest winter of the century so far: at Enosburg Falls the temperature rose from 0° to 40°, then dropped to 0° again within 24 hours.

January 12, 1968
At Burlington, 115 consecutive hours of below-zero temperatures ended with a rise from -23° to 6°.
